Fifty Shades of Grey countdown

On Friday, the day before Valentine's day sees the release of the highly anticipated book adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey. If you're reading this and have no idea what I'm on about...where have you been! The novel, classed as "mummy porn" has taken the world by storm and every body has been talking about it, and we've all been waiting for the film to be released in over a year.

I read the first book about three years ago, I'd heard people talking about it saying how great it was but I honestly wasn't impressed by what people were telling me about it. But I gave in and went to buy the book in Asda one day, when I looked at the space where it was meant to be it was empty, sold out but fortunately an assistant was stocking up and there was a queue of women trying to get one. I was completely shocked at the amount of sex in it, the most raunchiest book i've read are probably the Katie Price novels. But aside from the sex and BDSM I really liked the love story, the complicated life in which Christrian leads but then falls in love. The original book understandably received a lot criticism with British Inidan novelist Sir Salman Rushdie saying "I've never read anything so badly written that got published", a little harsh I think. I've read the trilogy THREE times, the third time only being Saturday night. I wanted to reread the book before I go see the film, I finished the first book in less than 24hours and read the last two books in 2 days. It had been so long since I last read the books that I wanted to remind myself of everything. I booked the film tickets about 2 weeks ago, I'm going with my sister-in-law and I'm pretty excited! I love  a film adaption of a book; my favourites being Harry Potter franchise (obvs), P.S. I Love You, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Twilight series....None of those films however have created as much controversy as Fifty Shades has. Fifty Shades is an erotic novel but with an actual love story in the middle of it, I can't wait to see how the love story is portrayed on screen.

In terms of casting for the film, I think they've done a pretty good job, we all have our own image of what the characters would look like. I personally hadn't heard of Jamie Dornan or Dakota Johnson and I doubt it would have worked if the two lead characters were played by big successful actors. The only one niggle I have is that they've cast Rita Ora as Mia, Christians sister, she may be great but I was just really surprised at that, when I imagined Mia I didn't really see Rita Ora. The soundtrack of the film sounds great from what I've heard so far, music is so important for a movie like this. The very early trailer for Fifty Shades featured a very short snippet of Beyonce rework of her hit 'Crazy in Love ' which she has redone especially for the film, another of her songs also features and she's done a great job. Another song I love from the film is Ellie Goulding's 'Love Me like You Do' it's such a great song, the first time I heard it I had no idea that it was part of the Fifty Shades soundtrack. The music video features some snippets from the film which I hadn't seen before.

So from what I've seen or heard already I think we're all going to be in for a treat. My hopes are that the chemistry between Ana and Christian is great, just like I've read in the book. Not only that but that they don't focus entirely on the sex but the love story. Reviews have been mixed but I really hope that I enjoy it just as much as the book, I can imagine that they'll make a big cliffhanger at the end and ill go crazy until we get to see the 2nd film.

No doubt I'll let you all know next week what I thought about the film. Are you excited about the Fifty Shades of Grey film or are you not bothered? I'd love to know your views.

Thanks for reading
