Weekend baby style #14

This week has been very quiet for Joey but last week I ordered him a super cute outfit from H&M and he wore it on Tuesday. So we only have 1 outfit in this week's linky.

Top: H&M £5.99
Long sleeve vest: H&M
Jeggings: H&M £5.99

Me and Chris love Run DMC..."It's like that" is our jam and I've always wanted a RUN DMC tshirt of my own. So when I found the tshirt on the H&M website I put it in the basket straight away. I ordered it in 9-12months because I've found that clothes I've got for Joey at H&M tend to be really generous in size. We were off out and even though it wasn't cold, it was windy so I put a long sleeve vest underneath so that I didn't have to cover the shirt with a hood. We also ordered a pair of jeggings for Joey aswell, these were actually from the baby girls section (shhhh!). truing to get jeans that fit Joey and last is really hard and we've found that jeggings are just so much better but I always have to get them from the girls section! I've never found any jeggings for boys which is annoying. But these jeggings are so great they'll go with anything, I bought them in 12-18months and they are a perfect fit.

Sorry about the unruly picture of Joey, he wasn't loving the camera that day. I hope you've enjoyed this week's #weekendbabystyle, don't forget to comment if you love the outfit and then link up with Knott Bump & Us!

Joey's 11 month update

On 19th May Joey turned 11 months old and had his birthday photoshoot (sorry this post is late) which means only a month until his big birthday!
This month has been very busy for us as a family; it's been mine and Chris's birthday, 2 bank holiday weekends and Joey had his 10 - 12month development check which all went well. At the end of the development check, their was just a routine health check where they weighed and measured his height and head circumference. He weighed 20lb 8oz , so yet again Joey has lost weight again, height was 73cm (2ft 4.7inches) and head circumference 46cm from his other measurements he's actually in proportion. So the health visitor told me not to worry and take him back in 6 weeks time.

This month has also seen the appearance of Joey's 3rd and 4th teeth. They've been giving him a bit of discomfort but he's dealing with it pretty well. I can see a 5th tooth coming through aswell.

Joey's sleep pattern has been a bit all over the place recently. He goes to sleep no problem but some nights he'll wake up once during the night and then wake up super early at 6am! Like last night he woke up at 12.30am crying, tried putting him back in his own cot but started crying again so got him in bed with us until he drifted off and then back in his own bed.

He's still on 3 x 6oz bottles of formula during the day and then 2 or 3oz at bedtime. Food wise he has porridge in a morning and then plenty of snack in between meals. Finger food is still a bit hit and miss because he keeps putting a whole rice cake for example in his mouth and then I have to fish it out before he starts choking.

Their has been such an improvement in Joey's skin, all of his red blotches have cleared up which is great! We're still using all of the lotions and potions prescribed by the doctor. I've started using Childs Farm hair & body wash which is suitable for eczema prone skin.

He is very nearly crawling, when we put toys in front of him he gets really determined to get whatever it is in front of him. Another thing he has started doing when he is sat down is trying to get up, he gets his bum in the air and tries to pull his self up but not quite. He has also started to shake his head when we say no or ask him a question, it's so funny and cute!

Joey's 1st Birthday photoshoot

On Tuesday, Joey was a model in his very own photoshoot! An old friend of mine from uni has her own photography studio in Droylsden, Manchester and we've been meaning to get some professional photos of Joey done for ages. So with Joey's 1st birthday a month away we thought it was the perfect time to do a Photoshoot.

Sophie is a great photographer and had some really cool ideas for the shoot, he was going to do a cake smash so we left that until the end so he didn't dirty any clothes. I took 2 outfits for Joey that he hadn't worn yet so I picked a Ralph Lauren shirt that my friend Daisy had bought for him with a pair of chinos. The 2nd outfit was from H&M, a nautical t-shirt and a navy pair of shorts.

The first scene that we shot was with Joey in his Ralph Lauren shirt sat/lay on a sheepskin rug.

The second was with Joey in his nautical outfit, he always rocks a nautical theme!

The third scene was with Joey in his nappy and we used Joey's blanket from Boco Baby and his knitted crown from River 20 Four as props.

And finally it was time for the Cake smash! He wasn't too sure about the cake and was holding back a bit, more interested in the balloons and the confetti. But in the end he managed to pick up a big chunk of cake and eat it.

I know I'm biased but Joey is absolutely gorgeous 24/7 and these pictures just show how photogenic he is. I'm so glad we decided to get a Photoshoot done now instead of a newborn shoot. If you're in the North West then I highly recommend visiting Sophie at Photograph Art Studio 25. Her work is excellent, great with kids, pets and people.

Weekend Baby Style #13

This week has been rather quiet but on Tuesday Joey had a Photoshoot to celebrate his upcoming first birthday!

One of Joey's birthday presents was a Photoshoot and it was on Tuesday. He wore 2 outfits that he hasn't worn before and he looked so cute!

Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Trousers: Primark
The Ralph Lauren shirt was gifted to Joey by a friend of mine from school along with a Ralph Lauren cardigan to match. I love the shirt as it is a lovely summery colour and you can pair it with quite a few different styles of pants or even shorts. The pants are from Primark and the second pair Joey's had, the first pair when he was about 3 months old as they aren't as restrictive as jeans.

Top: H&M
Shorts: H&M
This outfit i thought was really cute, Joey always rocks the nautical look. The top was £2.99 (I think) and the shorts were part of a different set from H&M.

We had a lazy day but I still got Joey dressed.

Bib: Bibs & Bobs
Vest: H&M
Leggings: Fred & Noah

Joey is off out with daddy for some surprise mission.
Top: George at Asda
Jeans: George at Asda
The top is part of a set and came with a pair of shorts but I guess you can pair with anything. It says "Float up to the clouds & dream big little one" I don't know whether this is actually meant to be a pyjama set but oh well. The jeans are really tight on Joey,  I'm waiting on some jeggings that I ordered from H&M.

What I'm watching on Netflix

I've been part of the Netflix Stream Team for about a month now and thanks to the Apple TV I've been given by Netflix, I've been using Netflix all the time.

A few weeks ago I finished the first series of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and found myself not knowing what to sink my teeth into next. Netflix have introduced some great series that I'd heard a lot about so I started to make my way through House of Cards, Bloodline, Daredevil, Breaking Bad and then Dexter. I found House of Cards and Bloodline to be really slow and didn't excite me at all, I only watched the first episode of each. I started watching the first episode of Daredevil, I really like it but it is such a dark show that I haven't got round to getting in to it completely.

I then started watching Breaking Bad, the whole world seemed to have gone crazy over it so I thought I'd check it out. It's really good and you can't help but want to know what happens to Walter. The whole series resolves around drugs but also shows the relationships between family.

The show that I'm completely obsessed with at the moment is Dexter, like the others I'd heard a lot about this show but it never really appealed to me. I watched the first episode and then the next and the next. Dexter is a blood splatter analysis at a Miami police department who has an obsession with killing criminals. I'm already on season 4 and i don't know what I'll do once I've finished it.

Once I've finished Dexter (which won't take me long) I'll probably go back to watching Daredevil. In June however, the new season of Orange is the New Black starts so I won't be struggling to find something to watch for a while.

What are you enjoying on Netflix at the moment?

May Bank Holiday Weekend: My birthday

I always enjoy a bank holiday weekend, especially May Bank holiday because my birthday is the 2nd May. This year is the first birthday being a mum and I loved spending the weekend with my two boys. Here's what we got up to...

I booked a pamper package at my favourite beauty salon Beauty & the Beach. The package included a dermalogica facial, gel polish on fingers and toes & hd brows. I was pampered like a princess by Sarah and her glam squad.

I booked a table at one of my favourite restaurants Pesto which does Italian antipasti dishes . We usually only go to Pesto when we're at the Trafford Centre and they used to have one in Liverpool but they have a range of Pesto pubs dotted around and we went to the one in Widnes. We took little man with us and he was as good as gold like always. Every time we go to Pesto I usually order the same thing this time I had:
  • Bruschetta al salmone
  • Tuscan Beef stew; this is the first time I'd had this dish and it was lovely the beef was so tender and even Joey liked it
  • Farfalle al salmone affumicato e asparagi; is Farfalle pasta with Salmon and asparagus in a creamy sauce.
  • Tiramassu

After our meal it was still pissing it down so we just decided to go back home.

The weather was lovely so we went to a car boot sale in Warrington. After that we planned to go back into St Helens for some lunch but Chris suggested we go to Southport instead because of the lovely weather. It ended up taking nearly 2 hours to get to Southport, thankfully Joey slept the whole way (he loves being in the car). We managed to find a parking space opposite the seafront so we parked up and then walked over to the main street of Southport to find somewhere to get some lunch (at 3pm). We ended up going to Wetherspoons, I had a burger and Chris had a hotdog but he didn't actually order it. After lunch we walked along the pier and got some doughnuts which were lovely. We then went for a walk along the beach where Chris thought it was a great idea to take Joey in his pram on the beach which was slightly difficult to push out of the sand. It took us ages to get out of Southport, stop start the whole way back. Once we got home I got Joey ready for bed and had an early night.

Even though some of the weekend was a washout, I had a really good weekend. It was the first birthday since having Joey so spending time with him and the hubby is all I really love doing.

Joey's Summer Clothing Haul

Hi lovelies, I've finally bit the bullet and done a clothes haul for Joey. Over the past few weeks I've bought him loads of clothes for the summer so thought it would be good to a vlog to show them off. I'm still not very comfortable with seeing myself on video but I need to get used to it.

I've put all of the H&M links in the clip and everything else was bought instore at either Matalan, Asda or Primark.

Weekend Baby Style #12

Last weekend was May Bank holiday weekend, my birthday on the Saturday and then we went to Southport for the day on Monday. I've also spoilt Joey with lots of clothes and treats which I plan to do a vlog for. So we've had an action packed week really.

Compared to Saturday and Sunday the weather was brilliant so we decided to have a day out to Southport.
Cardigan: Ralph Lauren
Vest: H&M
Leggings: Fred & Noah
Blanket: Boco Baby
It was all a bit stressful on Monday, we'd been in the car for nearly 2 hours so I didn't manage to get a proper photo in his full outfit. But he did look super cute!

Joey had his 10month development check and the weather was a little cooler so we went for something long sleeved.
Top: F&F Tesco
Leggings: Fred & Noah

Voting day! We had a few things to do during the day so a comfy outfit was needed.
Top: H&M
Leggings: Fred & Noah
I completely forgot that Joey had had his elephant leggings on once already this week but he loves them and they were clean so who cares. Unfortunately the elephant leggings have been discontinued :(

Thanks for taking a look at this week's #weekendbabystyle and we look forward to reading your lovely comments. Don't forget to link up at Knott Bump & Us!

Netflix Stream Team: May

Another month means another load of shows and films to watch on Netflix. Since last month's post Netflix very kindly sent me an Apple TV which makes it so easy for me to enjoy Netflix in the comfort of my bedroom when putting Joey to bed.

I've also finished Season 1 of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, I absolutely loved it and I really hope their will be a Season 2! I then watched the first 2 episodes of Marvel's Daredevil which is great but quite dark. This month, Netflix's theme is "Family is what you make it". So we're embracing all of the weird and wonderful families we watch on the big screen.

So what's new this month?

Grace & Frankie
A Netflix original series which shows "Grace and Frankie’s husbands leave them after 20 years of marriage—to be with each other—the women find themselves facing a change that they never expected, but they shift their perspective to get through it together with the support of their new blended family and, of course, a sense of humour". I've seen the trailers for this and It looks really funny and it comes from one of the co-creaters of Friends so it's bound to be a great comedy.

Other dysfunctional families...
The Royle Family
If you're reading this and are from the UK then you should have heard of the Royle Family. Jim Royle is the head of the family and shows how dysfunctional and funny the family are.

Freaky Friday
A 2003 film starring Lindsey Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis a mother and daughter switch bodies with hilarious results.

Spy Kids
Another great family film is Spy Kids, I loved this film as a kid and always wanted to be a spy. Children Carmen and Juni need to rescue their secret agent parents (Antonio Banderas & Carla Gugino) from bad guy Alexander Minion.

Another childhood favourite of mine, Netflix has The Rugrats Movie and Season 3 so a great option for those smaller kids. Follow Tommy Pickles and friends on their baby adventure.

What are you enjoying on Netflix at the moment?

It's a girl!

Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their daughter! After apparently being a week overdue,Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born at 8.34am on Saturday 2nd May (my birthday) weighing 8lb 3oz.

I remember watching the live coverage when Prince George was born and since having Joey I've become more interested in Kate's pregnancy and the coverage of her second baby. If you've ever been overdue I'm sure you can sympathise with how she was probably feeling but she has the added stress of the world and it's wife wanting a picture of her. Then as soon as she had both Prince George and baby number 2 she has to stand on those steps in front of the Lindo Wing and let a mass of photographers take pictures of her.

The last thing on my mind after giving birth would be to have all that attention and photographers snapping away. Don't get me wrong, on both occasions Kate has looked incredible, no sign of the dragged through a bush look that I sported. But is their really any need for it!

Have you or someone you know been born on the same day as Princess Charlotte?

LifeCake App

I love taking pictures of Joey, on my phone I have a dedicated album which has more than 2000 photos of him. Sometimes I'll look at a photo and can't tell how old he was and I love to reminisce about how small he was.
A few months ago I came across an app on my phone called Lifecake which allows you to store favourite pictures in chronological order. It dates the photo and gives the age of the child which I think is a great idea. Gone were the times of when parents had to write the age or location on the back of the photograph, we now rely on phone or computer storage to store all of our memories.
It's so easy to use and best of all its a free app! The app orders the photo automatically by the date it was taken so you don't need to remember the date yourself. If you haven't used Lifecake already I'd give it a try.
Do you use any really good photo storing apps?
