Weekend Tot Style #1

This week I've tried to up my game and taken flat lays of Joey's outfits, they aren't as good as some of my favourite bloggers but I can only improve. Also don't forget that #weekendministyle and #TT_Thursdays have joined forces and future style posts will now be known as #weekendtotstyle.

Outfit 1
Jumper: H&M | Jeggings: Zara | Shoes: Clarks

This knitted jumper has been featured a lot over Christmas, it was in the sale at H&M. It looks lovely and cosey on him.

Outfit 2
Top: H&M | Leggings: Zara
Most of Joey's Zara leggings are becoming a bit too small for him so I need to make the most of the them. These grey geometric print leggings are a favourite of mine and think the lion top goes well with laser beams coming out of its eyes.

Outfit 3
Top: H&M |Leggings: Tobias & the Bear|Slippers: Boots Mini Club
The roll neck top is part of a 2 pack from H&M, he's already worn the other grey one so thought it was time to put this one with an outfit. I think Joey really suits a roll neck. The Bear leggings were bought ages ago from Tobias & the Bear, he hasn't worn them for ages though.

Vichy Dermablend Foundation review*

Before Christmas I was given the opportunity to review the new and improved Vichy Dermablend Corrective Fluid Foundation setting powder.
I've already been using Vichy Dermablend for about a year but I'd always worried that I'd selected the wrong shade. The shade that I had originally been using was Nude but I was finding that it was a little too dark for me and it gave me a bit of an orange tinge. So this time I picked OPAL which is a lighter shade that suits my skin tone a lot better. As the foundation is full coverage you don't need to apply a lot, a pea size amount is usually enough for me.

The Corrective Fluid Foundation is now available in 8 shades and has had a very sleek makeover! The high concentration of pigments provide better coverage than normal foundation but maintain an ultra blendable texture for flawless, natural results. Perfect for even the most sensitive skin, it provides 24 hour hydration, is long lasting (upto 16 hours!) and has SPF 35 sun protection.

What originally interested me in Dermablend last year was the fact that the foundation helps to conceal uneven skin tone, dark circles, redness, scarring, spots, acne scars etc. As I've mentioned previously, I suffer with Acne and have done since I was a teenager. I'd never found a foundation that concealed my blemishes but also hydrates my skin until I tried Dermablend. Application is better with a blending brush but is just as effective if applied with fingertips if you're in rush.

To finish my make up off I've also been using the Vichy setting powder which ensures my foundation lasts for longer. As I have combination skin I find I get oily in places so by using the setting powder it minimises the oil production. The setting powder is translucent but you only need a very light dusting to finish your look off. After using the lighter shade of Vichy Dermablend Foundation I am even more impressed than I was previously, my makeup looks more natural and my skin feels better.
Have you used any products from the Dermablend range?

DISCLAIMER: The above products were sent to me free of charge in return for a review. All thoughts and opinions 100% my own.

What Joey wore #30

We missed Weekend Mini Style last week as we've mainly been having lazy days as we've all been suffering with a cold, Joey more than mummy and daddy. But we're back with a few outfits.

Outfit 1
Jumper & leggings: H&M | Bib: Cheeky Chompers
I took Joey to his first ever soft play so I thought something comfy was a must so that he could play around.

Outfit 2
Top: H&M | Leggings: Fred & Noah
I love this outfit on Joey, he looks like a proper lad. The top is part of a 2 pack of polar necks from H&M basic range. I think the grey top and Fred & Noah stag leggings go so well.

Outfit 3
Shirt & Jeans: H&M | Trainers: Adidas at Sports Direct
We took Joey for a Valentines photoshoot at Pixifoto and this was one of the outfits he wore. The red shirt was £3 in the sale, I literally only bought it for the shoot but it goes great with a pair of jeans.

Outfit 4
Jumper: Ralph Lauren | Shirt & Trousers: Tesco
We went for a little outing to Southport. I thought I'd dress him up a little bit and opted for a set that I'd bought him from the Florence & Fred sale at Tesco before Christmas which consisted of the shirt and dark red jeans. Because It was a little cold I put his new Ralph Lauren jumper that one of my close friends got him for Christmas.

New year, new Netflix shows + GIVEAWAY

After being somewhat mia with my blogging over the past few months because of work commitments I thought it was about time I did a Netflix post. Before I crack on though I'd thought I'd share with you the gift that I received from Netflix for Christmas...

I've been watching something on Netflix literally everyday for the past few months so I have some great recommendations for you.

Making a Murderer - if you haven't watched or heard about Making a Murderer then where have you been??? A 10 part documentary which follows the story of Steven Avery from Manitowooc, Wisconson who served 18 years in prison for rape and attempted murder for which he was then exonerated for in 2003. As Steven starts to live life as a free man he is then arrested in 2005 and then charged in 2007 for the murder of a young woman. The documentary was filmed over the course of 10 years but spans over 2 decades. As a fan of anything crime scene, this had me gripped. The lack of evidence linking Steven to both crimes is astonishing and the end result extremely frustrating for anyone on Avery's side.

Scream - Taking reference from the old school Scream trilogy, Netflix have brought us a 10 episode season "What starts as a YouTube video going viral soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town's troubled past." (Imdb) I've only got onto episode 2 but what I've watched so far is pretty good. It is a lot like the film in which it gets its name,

Luther - A crime drama series on BBC starring Idris Elba as Luther, a near-genius murder detective whose brilliant mind can't always save him from the dangerous violence of his passions. Currently Luther is on season 4 but Netflix has recently added the very first season, allowing people to start watching Luther from the beginning. I've never watched Luther before but after seeing it featured on Gogglebox a few weeks ago, it looks so good! So now that I've finished Making a Murderer, Luther is next on my list.

The Last Stand - the leader of a drug cartel escapes from a courthouse and is headed in the direction of Summerton county sheriff Ray Owens (Arnold Schwarzenegger) who's sleepy town is inexperienced in taking down a drug lord. High speed car stunts and a lot of gun action.

Coming Soon
Their are a lot of new shows and films coming to Netflix this year. I am so excited that we now have official dates for  next installments of my favourite shows:
Orange is the New Black (Season 4) premiers Friday 17th June 2016

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Season 2) premiers Friday 15th April 2016

GIVEAWAY
I'm giving one of my lucky readers the chance to win a £25 Netflix subscription which is roughly 4 months worth of Netflix subscription.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Good Luck

Disclaimer: As part of the Netflix Stream Team I have been given 12 months subscription and an Apple TV in return for writing regular posts about how I use Netflix. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Joey's 18 month update

On 19th December you turned 18 months old, a whole year and a half old! Only 6 months until your 2nd birthday, where has the time gone!

This month has seen a MAJOR milestone being reached, you started walking!!! It seems that you had been cruising for ages and then one day you came home from nursery one night and started walking around the house. The key workers at nursery were certain that you'd  be walking by Christmas. We're so proud and happy that you're finally walking.

What you love
Cheese
Bath time
Nursery (sometimes)
Kitchen cupboards
The hoover
Walking
As of 10th December you weighed 25lb, I wasn't expecting you to put on a lot of weight since we last got you weighed 3 months prior as you've not been very well over the past month or so. There are no concerns though which is great and when your not off your food you eat a lot of it. After you started walking we took you to Clarks to get some walking shoes for you, your feet have got wider and you take size 4.5G.

Food
Over the past month or so you have become rather picky over your food or just throw a major tantrum when your not bothered. You absolutely love Cheese and practically anything that's beige in colour and generally not healthy. You've completely gone off your strawberries and the only fruit we can get you to eat at home are bananas. For breakfast you love to have crumpets or some form of chocolate cereal. You eat whatever mummy and daddy are eating at tea time, when your interested in food we can pretty much give you anything. This month has also seen the introduction of your first cutlery, when mummy puts food on your fork you can put the food in your mouth yourself.

Speech
At 18 months old I guess we should be expecting some words from you. You're not completely mute and you do babble a lot. Recently it sounds like your saying Abba, I don't know how or why youve suddenly become interested in Abba. Don't get me wrong, mummy and daddy love a bit of Abba but I don't recall playing any Abba songs recently.

Now that you've started walking I really hope we get some words out of you next.

What Joey wore - Christmas edition

This is the first Weekend Mini Style post of 2016 but we're going to back track a little bit to what Joey wore over Christmas.

WARNING: Major Christmassy outfits

Outfit 1
Hat: Boots|Jumper: H&M |Jeggings: H&M| Shoes: Clarks
Let's talk about the hat first shall we...I was in work one day and a customers child had this hat on, they'd got it from Boots where most of the Boots Mini Club Christmas stuff was in the sale. So I had a mooch in Boots and got the hat for £1.50. The jumper was also in the sale at H&M for £3. I love bagging a bargain and I love the print on this jumper.

Outfit 2
Top: H&M| Jeggings: H&M| Shoes: Clarks
For his last day at nursery until the new year he went as a little Elf. The top was in the sale at H&M for £2. Paired again with his trusty Jeggings.

Outfit 3
Cardigan, shirt and trousers - F&F Tesco
This was Joey's Christmas day outfit, it's a 3 item set from Florence & Fred in the sale. Think it might have been £10. It came with the cardigan, checked shirt and red chinos. He looked so smart in it and I'll definitely be putting him in it again before he grows out of it, I don't think the cardigan is major Christmassy so he should be able to get away with it.

Outfit 3
Jumper: H&M| Jeans: H&M| Trainers: Sports Direct
This was his first outfit of 2016. The Rolling Stones jumper is from H&M along with the jeans, he looks so grown up! This is the first pair of jeans that I've bought Joey, they are size 9-12 months as the next size up drowns him.

Thanks for tuning in for our first #weekendministyle of 2016. As always,  linking up with This Mama Life and Clearly Bex.

Looking back on 2015

Happy New Year to all of my readers, I hope you all saw in the new year with friends or loved ones. I was in bed and asleep for 10 pm  (how rock and roll is that) and woke up at midnight when all the fireworks went off.
2016 has arrived very quickly and it has had me reminiscing over the past year even though it has mainly been a quiet year for us.

January
The first few months of 2015 were very quiet so not much really happened but just looking back at how Joey has changed since the beginning of the year is crazy. At 6 months old he could barely sit up by himself and was a complete baldy.
February

March
This was the first year that I celebrated Mothers Day as a mummy since having Joey.
April
Joey enjoyed his first easter very much although he didn't have enough teeth to eat chocolate properly.
May
A pretty exciting month, my birthday is on 2nd May, Joey had his birthday cake smash photoshoot, daddy's birthday is 20th May and Joey had his 10 to 12 month development check. I also became a proud member of the Netflix Stream Team.
June
The most exciting month, the month Joey was born and the year of his first birthday. The day after Joey's birthday Chris and I went to see Kylie Minogue at our local racecourse, she was fab!
July
Another very lovely month, the weather was amazing which meant lots of lovely days out.
August
Joey and I had lots of trips to the park when the weather was decent. He had a photoshoot done with Pixifoto aswell, the photos were really lovely. We also had a lovely bank holiday Monday in Southport.
September
In September I found myself a part time job at H&M and Joey started nursery. We also went to the annual Southport Air Show. Joey started walking with the aid of his walker.
October
Before I started work properly we had a few outings as a family.
November
The month when everything starts becoming festive...and cold. Joey also had his first major accident at nursery which resulted in us whisking him to A&E.
December
An amazing month which saw Joey start walking and his 2nd Christmas.

It's been lovely to look over what we've done over 2015. Joey has grown so much that I'm so excited to see what 2016 brings.

Happy New Year
