What Joey Wore #12

Welcome to another What Joey Wore Style post. The weather has been very unsettled this week hasn't it??? Snow in April and were only a couple of days away from May!

Outfit 1
Jumper: Birdies & Bearcubs | Leggings: Lamb & Bear | Shoes: H&M
A spot of shopping in Warrington and the weather was on and off sunny and raining. I put him in his Mumma's Boy jumper so he would be warm and then his Lamb & Bear giraffe leggings, the colours go so well. The shoes I bought him that day from H&M, he has hardly any Shoes and I'd seen these online in the grey and loved them but they only had them in the navy.

Outfit 2
Top: Next | Leggings: Zara | Shoes: Clarks
Tumble Tots day, Joey hasn't got his TT tshirt yet so I thought I would put him in this fun top from Next. The top was part of the 2 for £10 offer, I think it goes well with the Zara geometric print leggings. Thankfully no tumbles this week.

Outfit 3
Top: H&M | Leggings: Fred & Noah
Today we woke up to a bit of snow, it was starting to melt but it's still really cold and a but like winter again. So his Fred & Noah stag leggings were the first thing I pulled out of the wardrobe, I doubt these will last him until autumn/Winter so we'll try and get plenty of wear out of them until then. His top is a favourite of mine from H&M, it came in a pack of two and I just think he looks quite smart.

Body Confidence After Having a Baby

Most of my teenage life and even my adult life I've never been happy with my body...who is??? I mean, we all wish that our bodies were different, most of us want to have a body like a supermodel or someone else famous. I've spent years picking myself apart about how I look and what I can/can't wear but I'm done with that now. I grew a human which is pretty damn amazing and I'm beginning to accept my new body.
Before Joey
At 5ft1 (probably not even that) my height...or lack of, has always been an issue for me. Aswell as being short I have big Boobs and I'm not naturally skinny. So  clothes shopping has always been a nightmare for me which puts a dampener on life when your friends can pop into any shop and find clothes that fit/suit them. I've never felt like I could fit in and wear normal clothes, what even is "normal"???

In the past 10 years I've gone from a tiny size 8 upto a 16, I think I felt my actual biggest this time last year when Joey was 2 months away from turning 1. I never even got into a size 16 when I was pregnant I was still pretty much in size 12  clothes. Having breastfed for the first 2 months and 2 weeks of Joey's life it kept the weight off and then as soon as I stopped the weight piled on. Probably not much for anyone to notice but I certainly did and I didn't do anything about. I went through last summer feeling so embarrassed at the thought of wearing anything too clingy or even legs on show.
Bump Shots
Then in September last year I started work back in retail where I would be on my feet a lot and not being able to snack like I did at home. So this meant that I started slimming down a bit, when I first started working I couldn't even get my wedding or engagement ring on because my fingers were so fat. By December my rings were back on my finger and if anything were a little loose. Clothes were starting to fit better and for the first time in ages I was able to get into size small clothes. I've not done anything to try and lose weight, I've still been eating what I want.

I've started to realise though that my idea of a "perfect" body is changing. I feel like I've got more confidence recently, I even went out in a dress at the weekend which was pretty figure hugging. I know that if I went to the gym and worked hard that I would lose my wobbly mum tum, but I don't have the time or money to go to the gym.
Recently I've enjoyed taking pictures of myself in outfits, and for the first time in ages I'm finally feeling confident with what I wear.

What Joey wore #11

Hello and welcome to another week of What Joey Wore. We've had a few lovely clothing deliveries for Joey over the last week so lots of exciting outfits to be worn.

Outfit 1
Top: Next | Leggings: Zara | Shoes: Clarks
So this outfit isn't what I'd originally put Joey in that morning. We were going to his first Tumble Tots session and originally he did have his Not Your Basic Kid top on. But Joey had a bit of an incident that involved a trip to A&E and I just happened to have his robot top in the car. I think the blue of the t-shirt goes really well with the blue letters on his leggings. Those leggings are really lovely, the background is a marl effect and their so soft.
Outfit 2
Bib: Funky Giraffe | Top: Zara | Leggings: Baby Brain Apparel
After the incident that Joey had had the day before we decided to stay at home and just chill. Joey's new leggings from Baby Brain Apparel had arrived so I was desperate for him to wear them. I love the colour of his leggings, so summer and bright. The Zara top I'd seen paired with the same leggings on instagram and fell in love but it goes so well. The Funky Giraffe bib is also a recent purchase and goes so well.

Yellow SS16 Bedding

We're now officially in summer; with warmer weather means adapting our bedroom to a warmer temperature. By changing something as simple as your duvet cover you can also make a massive difference to the overall look of your room.

SS16 has seen a splash of colour on the catwalks but the most popular to emerge has been yellow. I really enjoy changing my duvet cover as often as I can and experimenting with colours, here's a few yellow duvet covers that I've spotted recently...

Viola by Yorkshire Linen
Yellow isn't a colour I'd necessarily pick for myself but when I saw this Viola bedding set from Yorkshire Linen, I fell in love. I really like the use of fresh and China blue in this floral design. It reminds me of Wedgwood pottery for some reason.

Sophia Lemon by Yorkshire Linen
Yellow duvet covers at Yorkshire Linen’s new range are very nice if you're wanting to go all out on yellow. This pretty lemon is a lovely shade to add that spring/Summer feel to your bedroom. The yellow cutwork panel is amazing and increases that summer feeling

Yellow Scandi Geometric set by Dunelm Mill
If you're still wanting to add a bit of yellow but wanting something a bit edgy then this duvet set from Dunelm Mill is perfect. The geometric triangle print is Scandinavian inspired with both yellow and neutral tones.

Now that's it's officially summer (even though the weather says different) you should now be thinking about making those small changes like buying a summer tog duvet, removing any electric blankets and encorporating summer colours into the bedroom. We've done all of those things, our current duvet cover was purchased just after Christmas in the sale from George at Asda. The pillow is a lovely personalised one from Typography of Love at Toxic Fox.
How do you like to change up your bedding for the summer months?

What Joey Wore #10

Welcome back to another What Joey Wore post. The weather this week has been quite lovely so Joey's been able to wear some of his summer clothes.

Outfit 1
Top: H&M | Leggings: Baby Brain Apparel
Joey's H&M top was bought a few weeks ago, it's age 1-1.5 and it's so massive but I loved the "Hey there cutie" text. Paired with his Benny the Bunny leggings, he's got so much wear out of these already.

Outfit 2
Cardigan: Ralph Lauren | Top: Next | Leggings: Zara| Shoes: Clarks
During the morning it was foggy and really cold and then by midday it had warmed up so I changed him into something cooler. The robot top was a very recent purchase from the 2 for £10 offer, I think it goes really well with the Zara geometric print leggings. Even though it was warm I decided to throw his Ralph Lauren cardigan on while we went to the park.

Feeding a fussy toddler

If you own a toddler they will either be annoyingly great at eating all kinds of food or annoyingly fussy like Joey. His weaning Journey started off so great, this time last year he enjoyed eating strawberries, tomatoes and peppers basically anything that was good and nutritious...what happened!

When Joey was at nursery, he used to eat really well and then when he got home he used to refuse a lot of food. Now that he isn't at nursery, his eating has got better and less food is being launched on the floor.

Here's some of Joey's favourite meals:
Fish Pie
I started making fish pie ages ago from a recepie out of Annabel Karmel's book. But as he's got older I've started to make it with a Colmans parsley sauce mix. I've also experimented by making it with a sweet potato mash topping which he loves. This meal also gives me a sneaky opportunity to sneak some peas into his meal.

Spaghetti Bolognese
Pasta is his absolute fave! Spag Bol is a dish I make all the time and have made it in different ways. Recently I've been making the Slimming world version just using a can of chopped tomatoes, onion, garlic, Worcester Sauce and a beef stock cube. I also try and throw peas or carrots in. If we have some in I'll also do some garlic bread.

Pesto Rosso (with Sundried tomato) pasta
This pesto sauce is from Aldi and Joey absolutely loves it. Joey eats with his hands quite a lot so the fusili pasta is easy for him to pick up.

Pizza
This has only been a recent thing. We don't really have pizza because I only like it from Dominos but I've been getting the fresh ones from ASDA. Just a normal cheese feast pizza for £2.60.

Turkey Animals
I picked these up from Aldi ages ago and at first Joey wasn't too fussed but now he loves them. They're very handy to stick in the oven if you're short for time. I usually do these with some tomato pasta shapes usually Peppa Pig or In The Night Garden from Asda.

Salmon & Watercress fish Cake
I really do love salmon and these fish cakes from Aldi are bigger than your average fish Cake. Joey loves them and it's a great way for him to eat fish and Watercress without realising it.

Salmon & Broccoli Pasta
I haven't made this in a while but because it's pasta it's a meal Joey will always eat. The recepie we use is from Annabel Karmel's Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner.

So that's a short roundup of main meals that Joey eats at the moment. We now really need to work on his fruit and veg phobia. Our fave mummy blogger Hannah has recommended the following book for parents of fussy eaters:

Mumma's birthday wish list

Over the next couple of weeks your probably going to see a few wish lists as we have a few birthdays coming up. My birthday is the first on the 2nd May so here's a few things I'd love to get...

Selfish Mother Jumper
I have been wanting one of these jumpers for a while but get sold out pretty quick. I'd like a Mother or Mama one.  What's great is that  £15 from the sales of Mother designs go to Women for Women International – an amazing charity that helps women in 8 war-torn regions rebuild their lives through training programmes.

Tinkabling Wine Glass

I've only very recently started to drink wine at home and I'm still having to use a snowman glass i got for Christmas. Tinkabling glasses are absolutely gorgeous and I've wanted one for a while, they have so many different options to choose from and even kids glasses!

Sophie Kinsella is one of my favourite authors and I've read all of her books. I absolutely love the Shopaholic series and this is the newest book in the series.

Lightbox
I've been seeing pictures of these popping up on instagram. Such a creative way of sending a message or displaying a namel.

Bomber Jacket
I don't really have any summery jackets and I've never had a bomber jacket. I love the colours in this design and would look great with a black or white top and a pair of jeans.

Jeans
I just need a proper pair of jeans. Because I'm so short I have to get 28" leg length and also high waisted hides my mum tum.

Look out for Joey's birthday wish list soon on the blog.

Breaking Bad review + Coming Soon on Netflix

This time last year I started watching the first two episodes of the first season of Breaking Bad, I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Binge watching Netflix shows seemed to be the new big thing and Breaking Bad was one of these hot shows, those first episodes that I watched didn't exactly excite me so I didn't bother to watch the rest...Until very recently and I've finished the entire show.
The overall premise of the show; cooking meth, didn't appeal to me so I think that's why I stopped watching the first two episodes. But when I did continue watching it became more than just a show about drugs and more about how as humans we'll do anything to look after those who are closest to us. Walts battle with cancer, cooking meth and lying to his family became exciting and you're left wondering what happens next after every episode. Walt and Jesse' relationship is lovely at times, a father and son sort of bond. Everything is just so complicated but you can't help but carry on and watch.

Favourite quote:
"Walter White: Now, say my name.
Declan: [quietly] Heisenberg.
Walter White: You're goddamn right."

Out of all 5 seasons my favourites were the last 2. They were so exciting and all of the loose ends are starting to be tied up. I didn't know what to expect from the finale, I had hoped that Walt would somehow not get caught. Without giving too much away, I think the ending was unexpected, I didn't see Walt bowing out like that but I suppose it was inevitable. In terms of Breaking Bad making a comeback in the future, it would be possible, as one of the main characters is still alive. There's also a chance that both Walt and Jesse could reprise their roles in spinoff show Better Call Saul

So I have really enjoyed watching Breaking Bad, I'm sad it's over but I'm excited to start watching new things now and I've already started watching Better Call Saul.

Coming Soon...

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Season 2 will air on Friday 15th April in the UK.
Orange is the New Black: Season 4 will air on 17th June.

Disclaimer: As part of the Netflix Stream Team I have been given 12 months subscription and an Apple TV in return for writing regular posts about how I use Netflix. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

What Joey wore #9

Welcome to another week of What Joey Wore. Only featuring 2 outfits this week as Joey has mainly been wearing clothes that soon won't fit him anymore.

Outfit 1
Top: Cribstar | Leggings: Fred & Noah
A rainy day indoors so the Fred & Noah stag leggings came out. I always like to pair printed leggings with a plainish top, Joey's Not Your Basic Kid top is perfect with his leggings.

Outfit 2
Jumper: H&M | Leggings: Lamb & Bear | Shoes: Clarks
Please excuse the state of the jumper in the flatlay, I didnt have time to get a picture this morning. We were out and about today doing some errands in town. I forgot his coat while we were out but it wasn't cold. I picked up this jumper from H&M a few weeks back, I love the shade of grey and how it looks padded/quilted. Joey giraffe leggings from Lamb & Bear were bought way back in January and this is the first time he's wore them. We've had some lovely comments today about his leggings.
