Review: Pink Lining Mini Yummy Mummy Bag

I must apologise but this is a rather late post. Back in March for Mother's Day i treated myself to a brand new Pink Lining Mini Yummy Mummy changing bag. So I thought it was about time I shared with you what I love about this bag.
So if you are pretty well versed in Pink Lining changing bags then you will know that they have a great collection of bags and amazing designs. Before Joey was born I bought a second hand Yummy mummy changing bag, they are so popular and I've really enjoyed using it. But after Joey turned one I found that i didnt need to pack as much into the bag and i wanted something smaller. I'd always wanted to get a mini yummy mummy bag as they're the perfect size for just nipping out.

Whats inside...
- fold up changing mat
- zip front pocket for keys, money and phone as well as a back pocket and dividing pouches inside.
- adjustable shoulder strap that is long enough to fit over most pram/buggy handle bars (approximately 107cm at full length).
- Internal Features: 2x small pouches, a fold up padded travel changing mat and a small zip pocket.
What I love about this bag is that its compact and really handy just for those essentials you need when you're not out for long. The two outer pockets are really useful, in the main front pocket I tend to keep my phone in as it is a zipped pocket. The section on the back is big enough for a pack of wipes and 2 nappies. The adjustable shoulder strap is fab because you can carry it in different ways. I've been lengthening the strap as much as i can so that it goes across the body. It fits nicely over the pram handles aswell.

When I bought this Mini Yummy Mummy bag from the Pink Lining website they had  a 50% offer on at the time so only had a few designs to choose from. I went for Sam the Dalmatian print which I really love. This bag cost £22.50 (excluding delivery) RRP is £45. I must admit that even though I'm a huge fan of Pink Lining, I don't think I would have bought this bag if it wasn't for the discount, when you include delivery you're talking over £50. Don't get me wrong, the bag is lovely and I've been using it all the time. Pink Lining have some great discounts on end of season stuff so it's worth keeping an eye on the webiste.

Have you got a favourite Pink Lining changing bag?

The Glasses Shop Review: Unisex sunglasses

In the summer, you can never have too many pairs of sunglasses! So I was so excited when The Glasses Shop asked whether I wanted to try a pair of their sunglasses.

Glassesshop.com are an American owned and operated online retailer of eyeglasses. The website launched in 2004 and they are actually a group of eye doctors that realise that glasses can be expensive. Offering a great variety of both prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses at unbelievably low prices.
When I was younger I used to have to wear glasses but not anymore and now that we're in summer I thought I would go for a pair of sunglasses. I'm very particular about the style of sunglasses I wear, I don't like anything too big for my head and it's important that I can see properly when driving. I was very impressed with the variety of styles available on the website from my usual classic aviators to the currently popular wayfarer designs.
I decided to go for the Pueblo aviators which are actually unisex. My hubby keeps stealing my expensive shades so I thought a pair that we can share would be ideal. My favourite pair of shades are aviators so i love how these have the black plastic and then the gold metal aswell.
As these are unisex sunglasses they do appear slightly big on me, not a big issue really as I do like the design and I suspect the hubby will have dibs on these. The lenses also appear slightly darker than what I usually wear so I probably wouldn't wear these while driving. The glasses came really well packaged inside a plastic case with a wipe to clean the lenses. The glasses sent to me for review are $39.95 which is approximately £29 sterling. For a pair of sunglasses that aren't branded they are a bit more expensive than you would get in a high street store.
However, if you need prescription glasses then I don't think you can get a better price. When i did wear prescription glasses i remember paying over £200 for a pair of designer ones that I hardly wore. The great thing here is that you could actually build up a pretty good collection of glasses for the price of one pair in a highstreet opticians.
Do you have a favourite pair of sunglasses or like to switch between different styles?

* Sunglasses were sent to me for the purpose of this review. As always all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

What Joey Wore #19

Welcome back to What Joey Wore. Last Sunday was Joey's 2nd birthday so we have a birthday outfit to show you.

Outfit 1
Top: Rocket & Rose | Leggings: Fred & Noah | Moccs: Ali Express
As Sunday was Joey's 2nd birthday it called for a super special outfit to mark the day. I'd been looking for a reasonably priced birthday t-shirt for ages and stumbled across Rocket & Rose, this top was £9.99 and had a whide range of options to choose from. I never usually go for white t-shirts for Joey but the white and then gold glittery writing is gorgeous. Paired with a brand new pair of Fred & Noah leggings, I love the colour of these. The colour of the moccs match the grey bits of the leggings aswell.

Outfit 2
Top: H&M | Leggings: Baby Brain Apparel | Shoes: H&M
Yesterday was the hottest day we've had over the past week. I wanted him to wear the Zebra print leggings as he's not worn them in a while. I paired with his wild boy vest which i think looks great. His lovely leather sandals finish the outfit perfectly.

Joey's 2nd Birthday

Yesterday was Joey's 2nd birthday...where on earth have those 2 years gone! It only feels like he was born 5 minutes ago. Here's a little look at how we celebrated his birthday.
This year we opted not to have a party for him, only because we planned 2 party's last year and not many people turned up. He doesn't go to nursery and have any little friends aswell so we planned a day out to Southport instead. The day before Joey's birthday I was running round making sure we had baloons and banners ready for his big day. We've also been trying to build his Little Tikes car for 2 days now and it's the hardest thing I've ever had to put together.
Anyway, so on the morning of his birthday we had breakfast as normal...he was really distracted by the baloons and wrapped presents.
Once breakfast had been eaten it was time for the carnage to commence. The present unwrapping wasn't half as interesting as the massive number 2 balloon, he'd been playing with it all the time. Once we'd tidied up the wrapping paper mess I got him dressed into his birthday outfit. We left home pretty late but Southport isn't too far away so we got their for about 1pm. Had a run around on the  beach and our flyaway football flew into the sea...hubby was devasted and even contemplated risking life and limb to save it but decided not to.
We then went for lunch at Guelder Rose which is a lovely pub overlooking Southport pier and the beach, you can even see Blackpool across the water on a clear day. We always get a carvery, it's £4.95 for a small one which is plenty for us. We didn't bother getting Joey his own meal as he wouldn't eat it anyway, instead mummy got him a rather large yorkshire pudding and some roast potato. Joey went into meltdown mode after we'd finished our meal so we swiftly left just as it started raining.
We went for a walk over to the amusement arcades, Joey had yet another meltdown so back in the pram he went and walked into the town centre where he finally went down for a nap. We started to walk back to the car, we picked up a Terrys Chocolate Orange and strawberry ice cream (I know...weird concoction). When we finally got back to the car we were dripping wet.
Once back at home it was chill out time, Joey playing with his toys and his fave new balloon. I made Joey some tea and then it was time to light his birthday cake. After cake it was time to get Joey ready for bed, he finally fell asleep just before 8pm.
I know I keep saying it but i really cant believe that our baby is now two! It really does go so fast. Thank you to anyone that has messaged or commented wishing Joey a happy birthday.

Thanks for reading

What Joey Wore #18

Welcome back to What Joey Wore, hasn't the weather taken a very dramatic turn over the last week! I bet we've had our summer weather now so it's back to the rainy day outfits.

Outfit 1
Top: Zara | Bottoms: Lamb & Bear | Shoes: Clarks
As the weather has been pretty crap over the past week I thought it was time to bring the sun back out with adding a pop of colour with orange lion top. Its a very safari themed outfit with the giraffe leggings.

Outfit 2
Top & Jeans: H&M
Thursday was the second England match of Euro 2016 so I had to get him an england shirt. I didn't want to pay £30+ for   a top he wouldn't wear all the time so this top from H&M at £3.99 was an absolute bargain, its size 2-4 years so it should last him a while. The jeans he's had since christmas, they're 9-12 months and still has plenty of wear in them.

On Sunday it is Joey's 2nd birthday and I have been planning his outfit for a while now. So here's a sneak peak of what you might be seeing next week...

A year of Netflix

Just over a year ago I became part of the Netflix Stream Team, which for those of you not familiar, is basically a big group of bloggers who all love Netflix and give their opinion on the service. I'd been using Netflix way before I became a blogger so I was a fan of Netflix anyway but over the past year I feel the service has improved so much.
Netflix Original Series
The amount of original content that Netflix has is mind blowing, when i first started using Netflix years ago the only tv series you would find is old BBC stuff or well known american tv series. But Netflix has been excellent for bringing amazing new shows into everyone's lives.

New releases
The amount of new release films has improved so much over the past year or so. I remember a time when Netflix jusy had the films that had flopped at the cinema but I'm so happy that they are adding more up to date films.

Kids account
For me, cartoons are a parents best friend and Netflix has it's own dedicated kids section full of kiddy friendly shows. Episode after episode of Peppa Pig has saved my bacon (parden the pun) a lot!

What I've enjoyed watching:
- Dexter
- Breaking Bad
- Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
- Orange is the New Black
- Endless Love
- The Best of Me
- Love, Rosie
- The Do-Over

When I became a part of the Stream Team I was kindly gifted an Apple TV which has made watching my favourite shows and movies so easy, I can plug it in to any TV around the house so we can enjoy Netflix as a family.

I'm sure I'll still continue to use Netflix, it is really handy especially now that Joey is into Peppa Pig a lot.

What are your Netflix favourites?

Life update: I need a job

For the last 2 years (apart from the job i had for 5 months) I've been a stay at home mum. The decision for me to stay at home was because we have no family to help with childcare and would have to rely completely on nursery. But I've now come to the realization that we can't afford for me not to work and I've been applying for jobs recently.

When i quit my part-time job as a sales assistant in February, I left with the mindset that i wasn't going to rush into another job unless it was really worth it. I even told myself that I'd be a SAHM until Joey starts school but that might not be for another 2 years and it's not doing any of us anygood being at home. So i have an interview for a full time job in retail on Saturday, a role similar to what I was doing before I went on maternity leave. The problem with having a job in retail though is that it isn't ideal when you have a young family and very little support...unless you have an amazing employer.

The reason I left my previous part time job was because i was having to do 4 hour shifts, earning £35 for those 4 hours and then having to put Joey in nursery for 5 hours at a cost of £40. So i was losing money, it just wasn't worth it unless I had full time hours. Their were other factors that led me to quit but the childcare was the main factor. People might be thinking "Why do you want to go full time when it just means having to put Joey in nursery full time meaning more fees?" Good question, however with the husband working full time and myself working full time it will mean we have more income, if i do get this job then I'll also be getting commission aswell.

Being a SAHM is a hard role, I love spending time with Joey and it's been amazing to grow into the cheeky boy he is now but he needs more. He needs to be with other children learning and developing. Lets be honest, CBeebies doesn't keep Joey occupied for long when mummy has months worth of washing to get through etc. Not only would it be better for Joey to be with other children but I actually really enjoyed being with other adults when i was working for those 5 months. In addition to how it would improve mine and Joey's life, Chris has been trying to support 3 people off his wage so it would take the pressure off him aswell.

I can't stay out of work forever, the longer i do the harder it may be for me to get a good job. Ideally I would have liked to have found a job in customer service, something that is Monday to Friday, 9 till 5. But beggars can't be choosers. I'm sure as Joey gets older juggling family life and work will get easier.

What Joey Wore #17

Welcome back to What Joey Wore. The weather has been brilliant recently, so Joey has been wearing more or less the same outfits as what has already been featured in his style posts.

Outfit 1
Top: Next | Bottoms: Zara | Shoes: Clarks

Even though the weather has been great it did start off a bit cooler this week so we broke out a pair of his new Zara bottoms, I love the print and the colour and it goes well with his robot top from Next.

Outfit 2
Top & Shorts: H&M | Moccs: Ali Express
The top and shorts were bought last year for Joey, ehe wore the shorts all the time last summer and they still fit him. The colour of the shorts remind me of summer, he has the same pair but in blue from this season but they're really big. The top is another pick from last years summer wardrobe, he looks really good in navy and the stipes.

Outfit 3
Bib: Funky Giraffe | Romper: Caleb & Company | Moccs: Ali Express
After the glorious weather we've had recently today was the day it started raining and is very dull so he's wearing his Jurassic Park romper. I've teamed it with his khaki camouflage bib which i think goes great and his moccs which he's been wearing all the time recently, they go with anything.

Next Sunday will be Joey's 2nd birthday so i have a brand new outfit planned for him to wear. As always we're linking up with This Mama Life and Clearly Bex for Weekend Tot Style. Also linking up with Make Do and Push for Funky Kid Friday.
