What Joey Wore #26

Welcome back to another week of What Joey Wore. We've been out and about this week and had a pretty unsuccessful trip to the Trafford Centre.

Outfit 1
Top: Zara | Leggings: Baby Brain Apparel | Trainers: Nike
We went to the Trafford Centre in Manchester, we hadn't been in ages and it's one of my favourite places to go. This is also one of my favourite outfits on Joey, I love the colours and the animal theme. Joey was the only one who actually went home with some goodies like one of the In the Night Garden Ninky Nonk carriages.

Outfit 2
Top: H&M | Bottoms: Zara | Trainers: Nike
I really enjoy mixing and matching Joey's outfits and think this goes well. We went to the park so didn't want to put him in shorts incase he fell.

Mummy & Little Me Week 11: How to save money on your food shop

This week's post for Mummy & Little Me is live. This week I share with you some tips on how to save money on your food shopping.
Everybody these days is trying to save money one way or another and the main food shop is one area where you can save a bit of money. Depending on the amount of people in the household you can be spending over £100 on your food shop. Usually we spend around £50 to £60 per week on our food shop for 2 adults and a fussy toddler. We do our main shop at Aldi and then use Asda and Iceland for other bits.

Their is always a way of saving money, whether it's changing your supermarket or keeping an eye out for bargains.

Speech Therapy: Part 1

On Wednesday Joey had his first Speech therapy appointment. This was just a meeting for the specialist to observe Joey and ask us questions so they can get more of an idea as to what support Joey needs.

We met with two speech therapists at our local medical centre and we really didn't know what to expect. This was an initial meeting for the speech therapists to get an idea of what support Joey needs. So like in his 2 year review their was a small table and chair set out for Joey with toys on for him to play with. Because this was a new environment with new people Joey was pretty clingy and unsure but he enjoyed playing with some of the toys.

After discussing his development the speech therapist told us that Joey is definitely not at the development stage of the average 2 year old. Which is obvious to us but i felt a bit annoyed that she was poiting out the obvious.

We now have to have a home visit so that they can observe Joey at home and then they will be able to advise us more on what support they can offer. Also because of Joey's temper issues we're also looking to be reffered to a local specialist centre called The Bridge which supports children with special needs.

So at the moment I'm happy that the ball has started rolling with getting the help and support that Joey needs. Hopefully I'll have an update for you soon.

Have you had any speech support sessions with your child? Did it improve things?

What Joey Wore #25

This week has been amazing weather so we've been making those most out Joey's summer clothes.

Outfit 1

Top: Florence & Fred | Jeans: H&M | Trainers: Nike
I nipped into Tesco last week and picked up the t-shirt from the sale for £1.50. I got it in size 3-4 years and it fits perfectly. His jeans are from H&M, they're getting a bit too snug so I'll have to get him a bigger size soon.

Outfit 2
Denim shirt: Zara | Roqmper: Caleb & Company | Trainers: Nike
After all of the lovely weather we've had this week, it has now decided to rain so i pulled out his I Slay romper. Because it eas raining i thought the denim shirt was a great alternative to putting a hoodie on him. This denim shirt is great and I can see it going with a load of different outfits.

What Joey Wore #24

Welcome back to another What Joey Wore post. Yet again the weather has taken a dramatic turn during the week and we've been having lots of rain.

Outfit 1
Top: Next | Bottoms: Zara | Trainers: Nike
This is an outfit Joey has worn a few times, it goes together so well. The top from Next was part of their 2 for £10 deal and washes really well. The grey marl bottoms from Zara are my faves and I've been looking on ebay to get him the next size up as i love them so much. His trainers are the Nike Roche ones and i bought these off ebay last week, I love the colour of these and the fact they don't have laces...i want a pair for myself!

Outfit 2
Top: Zara| Bottoms: Zara | Trainers: Nike
Joey's 2nd outfit this week features a Zara double whammy. The tshirt was from the recent summer sale and then the marble effect bottoms were bought ages ago but he hasn't worn them because they're quite big. I think this outfit goes quite well, the colour of the top goes well with the marble effect of the bottoms.

Zoflora Disinfectant Review

Now that I have a child I've found that i get really paranoid about germs and the need for having a clean and germ free home. We all have a cupboard (usually under the sink) that contains a plethora of cleaning essentials that you buy on a regular basis. I was recently contacted by reps for the Zoflora brand to see if I wanted to try some of their products out.
I must admit that I've always seen Zoflora on the shelves when I've been down the cleaning aisle of the supermarket but have never actually used it. I assumed it was something like TCP (which stinks...but it serves its purpose). I was surprised to discover that Zoflora disinfectant actually comes in a variety of lovely fragrances.
3 in 1 action...
- 99.9% bacteria and viruses killed
- odours eliminated
- all day freshness

Zoflora disinfectant can be used in so many different ways and places around the home such as floors, cupboard doors and worktops, sinks, pet products, garden furniture and more. I've mainly been using it to mop the floors which has made the house smell amazing, especially the citrus fresh scent. It makes the house smell like summer. When I'm cleaning i usually like to use antibacterial wipes but with Zoflora you can pop it into a spray bottle and it lasts ages when diluted. One thing i will say is that if using the product on floors that are particularly dirty then you will have to use a floor cleaner first and then Zoflora to disinfect.
One thing I've found different to any cleaning product I've used is just how nice the fragrance is. It's not your usual cleaning product smell, it's a lovely fresh fragrance as if you've just sprayed air freshner. I'm really glad that we've got to try Zoflora disinfectant and i can honestly say I'll be adding it to our cleaning collection.

Zoflora can be found in most retailers including; Tesco, Sainsbury's, ASDA, Morrisons, Wilkinson's and even poundshops. A full list of stockists can be found on http://www.zoflora.co.uk

Mummy & Little Me Week 9: Getting your child to sleep in their own room

This week's guest post for Mummy & Little Me is live. I share with you some tips on how to get your child to sleep in their own room.
As you may know, we have struggled months ago with Joey during bedtime. We seem to have everything under control now and he actually stays in his room all night. So now that we're at a really good place with his sleeping I thought I would share how we improved things. When you become a parent for the first time those initial sleepless nights are a shock to the system. So then when Joey had reached 12 months old and things were still really bad it was time for a change.

Head over to Mummy & Little Me to see my tips on getting your child to sleep in their own room. Also don't forget to check out our previous posts..

Mummy & Little Me Week 8: Cookbooks for Fussy Eaters

It's that time of the week again when my guest post for Mummy & Little me goes live. This week i share my two favourite kids cookbooks for fussy eaters.
When it comes to preparing meals for a fussy eater its tricky to follow recipes that you've never used before and expect them to be liked straightaway. I have 2 childrens cookbooks that i use on a regular basis that i think are brilliant for fussy eaters.

So head on over to Mummy & Little Me and check out my tips. Also don't forget to check out our previous posts..

What Joey Wore #23

Well it seems as if summer has well and truly gone doesn't it. This week has been pretty chilled outfit wise as we've recieved quite a few new clothes deliveries for Joey.

Outfit 1
Top: Zara | Bottoms: F&F Tesco
I really like this outfit, it's so fun! Most of Joey's wardrobe seems to be made up animal themed clothes. The colour and texture of the Zara tshirt reminds me of summer for some reason. The joggers from Tesco are great because compared to the trousers Joey has in his wardrobe these are very comfy casual but the design is still really great.

Outfit 2
Shirt: ASDA | Romper: Caleb & Company | Bib: Funky Giraffe
This new romper from turned up yesterday and I've been so excited to put it on him. I went for the sleeveless option as it's easier to get him into. You can style this romper with so many different bits. Even when winter comes throwing a long sleeved top underneath or a jumper will make the romper last longer.

ASDA Little Angels Nappy Review

Nappies are one of the most important purchases you buy your baby on a regular basis. As a mum to a toddler we've tried and tested our fair share of different nappy brands and ASDA Little Angels have always been the best for Joey. Joey has been very lucky to have been sent two different types of Little Angels nappies to put to the test.

The first nappies we ever bought for Joey before he was even born were the Little Angels Newborn nappies, as time has gone on we've used different brands but always fall back on the ASDA brand of nappies. Joey is now a fully fledged toddler, always on the go and potty training is on the horizon so we were pretty excited to try them out.

Supreme Protection
  • By night, it provides superior comfort with up to 12 hours of dryness.
  • By day, it’s expertly designed not to disappoint, with additional features including super stretchy sides and a super secure back elastic. This helps to recognise that a nappy needs to perform differently as your baby moves quickly from a bundle of baby loveliness to an active adventurous toddler.
After Joey had passed the newborn stage we used to buy the Little Angels Comfort Dry, which had always been very good but then we started shopping at a budget supermarket and started buying their nappies. So having tried the Little Angels Supreme Protection I'm wondering why we ever stopped using the ASDA brand. Joey hasn't had any leakages, they seem to have more stretch to them for moving around and they really do last during the night.

Peppa Pig Pants
  • Soft, absorbent gel beads, which absorb up to 30 times their own weight, keep your toddler dry, with up to 12 hours dryness for protection day or night!
  • The special aqua lock™ layers help keep baby's skin dry to reduce rashes and skin irritation, the last thing your toddler wants as they begin to gain their independence.
  • ASDA Little Angels First Pants are suitable for toddlers from 12+ months and help them learn how to pull their own pants up and down.
  • They have quick release seams for fuss free changing and smooth zigzag flexi-sides for a soft, secure stretch, to keep your active toddler moving with confidence!
After using a different brand of pull ups i was expecting to not get on brilliantly with these but I'm pleasantly surprised. No leaks during the day OR night. Changing a #2 nappy was also pretty easy as you can tear the sides instead of pulling the nappy down. Pull up pants are just so much easier to get on a wriggly toddler aswell.

I'm very happy that we've got on so well with both types of Little Angels nappies and will definitely stick to getting Joey's nappies from ASDA in the future. Asda LittleAngels nappies are currently 3 packs for £10 which is a great price compared to other brands. Also, the Little Angels range packaging has recently been redesigned with the Peppa Pig First Pants being a new addition.
Not only did Little Angels out-perform Pampers and Aldi Mamia in all categories in a recent survey, ranking highest in terms of value for money/price, overall quality and absorbency(2), but they were also voted the preferred nappy brand(3).

If you haven't tried ASDA Little Angels nappies then what are you waiting for?
